This amazing technique transforms prints, posters, photos, postcards and reproductions into rich artwork that simulates an original oil painting.
Step
1:
Artwork is measured and cropped to image (borders are removed unless otherwise specified). A premium quality non-glare, non-reflective, UV-blocking laminate finish is applied to protect the artwork from fading and water damage. Cloudburst offers a choice of semi-gloss (luster) or matte laminate finish. The luster option provides a luminous, deeply polished finish - ideal for prints with vibrant colours. Both types of finishes allow the canvas to be cleaned using soap and water or glass cleaner.
Step 2:
The image is then lifted from the paper and transferred onto a choice of 7-ounce (fine grain) or 12-ounce (heavier grain), acrylic-primed, 100% cotton duck canvas. The canvas is stretched onto a custom-cut wooden support frame called "stretcher bars".
Step 3:
A premium non-glare edge tape is applied to the sides of the frame. Edge
tape comes in a choice of seven colours. The transformed artwork becomes
a lightweight, hand-stretched canvas that is non-breakable and cost-effective
to ship. Canvas transfers can be hung stand-alone or framed in a choice
of gold, silver or black floater frame. Cloudburst floater frames are
5/8" wide by 1 ½" deep - a perfect compliment to the rich canvas texture.
Artwork is recessed into the frame 3/16", with approximately 3/8" space
between the frame and canvas. Protective glass is not required for framed
canvas transfers.
Canvas transfers can be mounted on either ¾" or 1½" support frames to provide a distinctly different look. A thicker support frame is ideal for recessed walls or niches where artwork is displayed with overhead lighting.
To
further replicate the look of an original oil painting, Cloudburst studio
artists can add visual and textural depth to canvas images by applying
hand brush strokes. Using a light, medium or heavy coating of clear acrylic
gel, this process highlights the original brushwork of the artist and
is especially effective on images with bright colours.
